“Investment” Means Long Term

Yesterday I attended my niece's 1st birthday party, along with every pink balloon, napkin, paper plate, and streamer that could be purchased in Southern California.  The birthday girl, Sadie, had no clue as to why all of these people had invaded her home, but she had every bit the charm and charisma of a gracious hostess 40 times her age.  The party was a success!  Sadie's parents were gleaming with pride the entire afternoon, and every action, word, and organic animal cracker that Sadie received from them was carefully chosen, as she is the center of their world, and truthfully, their biggest commitment and investment.

Being that real estate is what I do, I was thinking about investments, and the lovely Long Beach home that we all enjoyed that afternoon.  I was thinking about when we helped them purchase this home, and how it has now become an incredible investment, but more than that, the gathering place where loved ones come together to celebrate - and THAT is priceless.

What I realized, too, was that we all may have forgotten that "investment" means long term.  When real estate appreciation was increasing abnormally in the first part of this decade, we lost sight of what investing truly means, and not only investing monetarily, but investing in our families and our roots.

Sadie's parents invest every breathing moment into her well being, growth, development, and happiness.  Perhaps we lost sight that investing in real estate, in a home, is far more than flipping a house every 3-4 years, but is long term.

With that said, now is the perfect time to invest in real estate with prices low, and interest rates at an all time low.  Now is the time to create roots and wealth, long term, for our loved ones and ourselves.
